What is Small Incision Lenticule Extraction (SMILE)?
SMILE is a refractive procedure, which corrects for myopia (nearsightedness) and astigmatism. During the SMILE procedure, a small piece of tissue (lenticule) unique to the patient’s eye and refractive error is created inside the cornea with a femtosecond laser and removed through a very small incision. This procedure is minimally invasive which means there is very little corneal tissue intervention. As a result, this procedure has quick visual recovery and very little discomfort.

- Less invasive surgery
- Low risk of getting transient dry eye syndrome
